R-Anell Homes President Dennis Jones Named MHI's Industry Person of the Year
DENVER, NORTH CAROLINA, April 15, 2004 Dennis Jones, the president of R-Anell Homes, the oldest and most established manufacturer of custom homes in the Southeast since 1972, has been named the 2004 Industry Person of the Year by the national Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI).
The award was presented to Jones at the 2004 National Congress & Expo for Manufactured and Modular Housing being held April 13-15 at Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. As one of a series of national awards given, Industry Person of the Year honors great leadership and commitment to the industry. As a recipient, Jones was chosen by his peers for the award.
Jones was reappointed in 2003 to serve a second year as the vice chairman of MHI. During the last two years, R-Anell has championed North Carolina state legislation get a bill passed that sets modular appearance standards to assure compatibility for neighborhoods. Jones was asked to serve as chairman of an ad hoc committee for the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute (NCMHI) to spearhead efforts to get the bill passed. The law was passed in 2003.
He is currently part of a South Carolina modular steering committee that is working toward similar legislation, and the bill is pending. Jones also serves on MHI's Executive Committee. As part of his role on the committee, he is involved in a national initiative and task force aimed at establishing an environment of ethical and professional behavior in all facets of the industry.
In November 2003, R-Anell Homes was named the Industry of the Year for Lincoln County, the North Carolina county in which the company is headquartered. This award was given based on the company's community involvement, commitment to its employees, business ethics and leadership in its industry. In that same month, the company also received a national Model Home Design Award from the National Association of Home Builders' Building Systems Councils (NAHB BSC) for its model home design, The Savannah.
In March, R-Anell Homes received a 2004 MHI Modular and New Home Design Award for its concept universal design home. This home design also was part of the awards ceremony at this week's National Congress & Expo. The design, aimed at allowing homeowners to "age in place", provides a flexible design and key amenities that provide for physical needs of individuals at any stage of life.
R-Anell Homes is a privately owned company with 350 employees. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in Denver and Cherryville, North Carolina.
