R-Anell Builder Featured in Journal of Manufactured Housing
Journal of Manufactured Housing, August 2004 Issue
Stallings Homes in Kannapolis, owned by "Joker" and Helen Stallings, began the transition from mobile to modular homes in 1996, working with systems-built manufacturer R-Anell Homes. Stallings now exclusively offers three series of R-Anell homes, the Founder's Collection, the Custom Series and the Medalist Series.

Joker has been in the industry for 26 years, and said that the change from mobile to modular has been a successful venture. About 70 percent of Stallings Homes' sales are from referrals, and the Stallings noted that modular customers are a different clientele than the previous market served. Helen said that modular customers "have done their homework" and come in very knowledgeable and knowing exactly what they want.

"R-Anell really supports us and offers options that meet or exceed typical site-built construction," said Helen. "For example, granite countertops tract builders don't offer that. Our customers are getting a true custom-built home."

Flexibility in working with R-Anell Homes is another positive for the Stallings.

"It's very good flexibility to do what we want to do," said "Joker". "Ninety-five percent of what we sell isn't according to floor plans."

Helen said that they go to R-Anell with modifications to fit a customer's needs, and the company works with them to provide the best solutions. This flexibility is a key difference between R-Anell and other manufacturers for the Stallings.

"We work very hard to develop and provide support services to ensure the success of our builders," said Andy Miller, General Manager of R-Anell Homes. "Stallings Homes is a great example of how our support programs pay off."

With a business that has been in the same easy-to-find location in Kannapolis since it began, open six days a week for 10 to 12-hour days, the Stallings are very familiar with the their market and with customer expectations. Sponsors of local ball teams and other civic events, the Stallings have a keen idea of who the customers are that will walk through their doors and what they will ask for in a home.

"We also sell a lot to site builders because they don't have the time or resources," said "Joker". "The R-Anell homes have all of the amenities, the quality and are already constructed."

Stallings Homes mainly sells homes for primary residences, but also has customers who purchase for second homes at the beach.

Stallings Homes is one of about 60 builders in the R-Anell Homes network. As a long-time business owner in the industry, "Joker" knows the history of the company.

"R-Anell Homes has always been one of the top-of-the-line houses," he said.

R-Anell Homes, the oldest and most established manufacturer of systems-built custom homes in the Southeast since 1972, has worked with a number of builders in its network as those businesses transition from mobile home sales to modular sales.
