August 10, 2005 – Charlie Humes of Boone , N.C. , is the third of five semi-finalists in Cheerwine soft drink's “Givin' Away The House” promotion with R-Anell Homes.

“This is so awesome; I can't believe it,” said Humes, a 21-year-old student at Appalachian State University. Humes, a senior, is majoring in industrial technology with a concentration in appropriate technology and a minor in sustainable development.

“If I win the house, I'd want it here in the mountains,” said Humes. “I'd probably lease it out for a while or let my parents use it. Then, I would move in!” he added.

Humes was selected as a semi-finalist on July 20, earning him a one-in-five chance of winning a 1,400-square-foot home as part of Cheerwine's Crave Factor promotion. The first semi-finalist, Betty Martin of Monticello , Fla. , w as selected in May. Susan Kennedy of Salisbury , NC was the second semi-finalist, chosen in June. Two additional semi-finalists will be drawn on the 20 th of each month through September, with the grand prize winner selected among the five semifinalists in October.

A huge fan of The Crave Factor, Humes and his roommate usually buy Cheerwine from a vending machine next to their apartment. Sometimes they go to Food Lion specifically to stock up. Humes laughingly added, “we'd always have arguments over who got to keep the points!”

Consumers can enter the promotion through The Crave Factor, Cheerwine's online consumer rewards program. Every code entered into a Crave Factor account at www.cheerwine.com generates an entry to win the house. In addition, entries can be made at www.r-anell.com .
